Oil of Olay Makeup

This review is about the Oil of Olay products that I have had the opportunity to use in my lifetime. It starts with my remembering my mother’s Oil of Olay lotion (if you could call it that) that came in a clear bottle with a black cap and the pink liquid showing through. I also remembered the image I associated with it and the feelings it evoked in me. Thirty-one years later I decide to try Olay again and end up using Total Effects. After a satisfactory experience, I switch to Definity and most recently I try Regenerist. In the end I feel that the Olay Definity line is the best one for my situation, skin type and I just love it.

Using Oil of Olay Makeup with Changing Skin Needs

I travel a lot and live in both a tropical country where my skin is classified as combination skin in the United States, specifically Las Vegas, where my skin is very dry. Given this situation I have a hard time finding a product that works well in both climates. I also do not want to spend exorbitant amounts of money on products if there are alternatives to the high end category.

One day while browsing for products I came across Oil of Olay. I remembered playing with my mother's oil of Olay plastic bottle that held a pink fluid that I thought smelled so grown up and lovely. I remembered putting it on without her knowing ( I was only 5). For the longest time, that was what image came to mind when I thought of Olay. I started to read through the available products Oil of Olay offered. A far cry from the single product that I remembered seeing 31 years ago.

They had a lot of lines - Definity, Regenerist, Total Effects, etc. I could not find one that suited me because it seemed that each one had something good for my skin but I knew I could not try them all. I first tried Olay Total Effects. This was 3 years ago. I liked it and my skin did not break out whether I was in the States or in the Philippines. It helped that the Total Effects line was also available for sale in Manila.

It did its job, kept my skin hydrated but it did not really help with brown spots I could see beginning to form on my face. They were very few and faint but I felt they were starting to become more noticeable. After a year of using this I decided to give Definity a try because I noticed that my skin was changing. I immediately fell in love with the product. I started using the Olay Definity for Day and for Night. I liked the way it made my skin feel and most especially because I did not have any breakouts because of it.

The night cream lasts the whole night. I only use two dabs - for my left and right side. When I wake up in the morning, my skin stills dewy. Then people, friends started commenting on how good my skin looked. This may sound cheesy but they really did and I finally said yeah it really works. They were surprised I said that I used Olay Definity. Found at Wal-Mart for a great price!

Just this March I decided to try the Olay Regenerist Touch of Foundation. I like it because it gives a glow, as my husband said, without me having to worry about other make up. It’s easy to blend and works well with my complexion. It came with the eye concealer but I find this product is not needed on top of the moisturizer. However, this product seems heavy in Manila where the weather is humid. I can use it when I go out at night as a base for my make up but not during the day. Given the three Oil of Olay products I have so far tried, I love the Definity line the best and will continue to use them.
