Applying Clown Makeup

Put your makeup on, clown! If you’ve ever seen balloon animals, birthday cake, or a 20-foot-tall man, then you’ve probably seen a clown. These people in ridiculous looking clothes and makeup will do just about anything you can think of, and some things that you can’t, in order to make you laugh. But, how exactly does one go from average Joe, to Bonzo?

How does he get all that makeup on? Truthfully, a great majority of people have not ever seen a person applying clown makeup, so naturally we wouldn’t know how. The end result, hopefully, will be an amusing experience to look at. It isn’t as hard as you would imagine, unless of course you’re one of those people who think that being a clown is easy! True, their actual job is fun and games, but it doesn’t always go that way.

Imagine anytime that you’ve had an uncomfortable moment at an important event, such as a birthday, family outing, or a children’s party. Wouldn’t it have been great to have someone there constantly working to lift the mood? This is not an easy job for anyone, but clowns pull it off, with a smile! So how do they, or you (if you’re so inclined) start applying clown makeup in order for this glorious job?

Well, you’ll need a few things, such as: a bunch of colors with white face paint, multicolored paint, eye pencil, a dusting brush, powder and a puff, a makeup brush, and some wipes to clear off mistakes. That’s a lot to remember! Now, once we have all that, we can start applying.

First begin painting your neck and face with the face paint. If you want to add some color (which wouldn’t be surprising), use the face wipes to clean up certain painted areas so that you can go over them with the colored grease paint. Now you can powder up your face. Not bad! Believe it or not, you’re almost done applying clown makeup!

Finally, now comes the facial details. This is more or less up to you as you’ll most likely want your design to be different from any other clown. You should use the multicolored grease paint for various areas, including but not limited to, the eyebrows, nose, cheeks, and mouth. Be creative! Let’s just say, though, that hypothetically, you wanted to take your clown makeup off someday. It’s actually quite simple; all you have to do is wash it with water and soap, and some vegetable oil, and it should come right off! Wasn’t that fun?
